Dr. Kawshik Chowdhury

Director of Preclinical Science

Dr. Kawshik Chowdhury is the Director of Preclinical Science at Scimar.

He helps develop research protocols and perform animal experiments, which allows him to study how peptides and hormones such as insulin and hepatalin affect the body. He also writes manuscripts and grant applications for the lab.

Since 2013, Dr. Chowdhury has worked as a Registered Pharmacist in Manitoba. He joined Scimar in 2018, but also worked with the company during his PhD. Here, he worked in Dr. Wayne Lautt’s lab and performed animal experiments.

In addition to being licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba, Dr. Chowdhury holds a master’s in Pharmacology and Toxicology, and a doctorate in Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He was awarded a Doctoral Fellowship (2009-2012) by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). His areas of expertise include clinical pharmacology, exercise physiology, and molecular biology.

In his spare time, you’ll find Kawshik playing badminton or indoor soccer; watching action and sci-fi movies; reading research articles; and spending time with his two children, Kaira and Shib.
