Melanie Logan Lautt
Co-Founder and Strategic and Legal Consultant
Melanie Lautt co-founded Scimar and is its Strategic and Legal Consultant.
She provides strategic and tactical advice to the company and its executives. She consults with Scimar’s executive team, its corporate legal counsel, and its patent legal team (where she helps manage the company’s intellectual property).
Melanie completed all but a PhD in Sociology from McGill after completing her master’s degree and bachelor’s degree with distinction in Sociology from the University of Alberta. For ten years, Melanie worked as an Assistant Professor specializing in Criminology and taught, conducted research, and published papers in the social science field.
Subsequently, she obtained a bachelor of laws from the University of Manitoba and retired as a partner in a litigation law firm in Winnipeg.
For over fifty years, Melanie has volunteered for several organizations, some of which include Corrections Canada, the Parole Board of Canada, the Elizabeth Fry Society, the Canadian Research Institute for the Advancement of Women, the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society, and the Canadian Federation of University Women. She also has extensive public speaking experience.
Outside her Scimar work, you might find Melanie cooking, reading, gardening, advocating for women and children’s rights and nature conservancy, or spending time with her two amazing children and three grandchildren.
